Ecobank Group Appoints Protus Tache as Group Executive, Human Resources

16 April 2026

Lomé, Togo (16 April 2026) – Ecobank Group, the leading pan-African banking group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Protus TACHE as Group Executive, Human Resources, effective 1 April 2026.

As the Group accelerates its focus on talent, leadership effectiveness, and cultural alignment under its Growth, Transformation and Returns (GTR) strategy, this appointment serves as a critical lever in building a high-performing organisation positioned to compete and win.

Protus brings over twenty years of international human resources and business leadership experiences across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He joins Ecobank from Heineken Africa & Middle East, where he was People Director for the region, overseeing operations across 13 countries and delivering integrated talent and culture transformation programs. His tenure at Heineken also included high-impact roles such as Head of Business Transformation for Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe, and as Managing Director and CEO of Brassivoire, Heineken’s subsidiary in Côte d'Ivoire.

His earlier career was marked amongst others, by senior local and regional human resources mandates at British American Tobacco and Nestlé, where he led large-scale organisational design, leadership development, and digital HR initiatives. Notably, he also served as General Manager for Nestlé Benin, further bridging the gap between people strategy and commercial operations.

Protus holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management, a B.Sc in Management and several other qualifications amongst which a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship.

Jeremy Awori, Chief Executive Officer of Ecobank Group, said:

“As we accelerate our GTR strategy, strengthening our organisational architecture is a critical enabler of our ambitions. Protus brings a rare combination of strategic HR leadership and hands-on business management experience. His deep understanding of operating across diverse African markets and his track record of delivering transformation at scale, will be instrumental as we continue to build a culture where talent, leadership and culture are among our most distinct competitive advantages.”

Protus’s dual background in human resources leadership and general management ensures his approach to human capital is anchored in commercial reality and disciplined execution, key requirements for the pan-African delivery of the Bank’s strategy.

Following a structured transition period, Protus will assume full leadership of the HR function on 1 May 2026. With this appointment, Ecobank Group further reinforces its commitment to aligning culture with strategy to drive sustainable growth.
