Blantyre, 18th July 2022 – Ecobank Malawi has upgraded its USSD Mobile Banking platform code from *560# to *326# to complement its unified world-class Ecobank Mobile App, available in Malawi and thirty-three other countries across Africa.
The upgrade comes with a variety of unique features and is available to all the to the Bank’s customers, making it extremely simple to transact since one does not need mobile data to log in.
Ecobank Malawi Head of Consumer Banking, Sophie Kalambule said customers who are on Ecobank Mobile App simply need to dial *326# and input a 6-digit pin they use on the App to safely and seamlessly self-register on the *326# mobile banking platform. For those who are not yet on Ecobank Mobile App, they simply can self-register using their Ecobank Visa debit card upon dialling *326# and following simple prompts and steps.
“We are driven by the need to serve our customers better by constantly improving and upgrading our systems and platforms to meet customers’ ever-changing needs in this digital era. Through this upgraded platform, our customers will be able to send and receive money instantly to and from 33 African countries where Ecobank is present via rapid transfer service,” Kambule said.
Other services available on the platform, she explained, include Xpress cash where Ecobank customers can generate e-tokens which can be cashed by the recipient of the e-token code at any Ecobank ATM across Africa without the use of an Ecobank ATM card. Furthermore, customers will also be able to shop and make payments using EcobankPay, easily buy airtime, pay for Masm medical subscription, pay prepaid-postpaid Blantyre waterboard bills, pay MRA duty and taxes, pay for Go TV and DSTV plus view balances, statements and enjoy many more exciting features. The good thing is that all this can be done anytime-anywhere using any type of phone, without the need for data hence contributing to the financial inclusion drive, Kalambule explained.
Individuals who receive their salaries via Ecobank will soon be eligible to access pre-approved salary advance loans payable at month end by sending a request via the *326# Mobile Banking platform and upon satisfying all terms and conditions for the fast loans.
