What is Xpress Cash?

Xpress Cash is a fast, easy and affordable service on the Ecobank mobile app to send money without using your actual debit card. The app generates an 8-digit number, or e-token, that is used to withdraw cash at any Ecobank ATM or Xpress point, by you or anyone you send the e-token to. You can create the e-token to withdraw funds from any of your Ecobank Xpress, current or savings accounts that are linked to your mobile phone app. Xpress cash is available whenever, wherever and to whoever you want.

Who can use Xpress Cash?

Anyone who has the number of the e-token that was generated on the Ecobank mobile app can use Xpress Cash. As well as for yourself, this is a great way to send cash to someone else. Just send them the 8-digit e-token generated by the app via mobile or email, and they can withdraw the amount you have sent them at any Ecobank ATM or Xpress point, in any country that shares the same currency. Or use it yourself.

How to generate an Xpress Cash e-token?

Generating an Xpress Cash e-token via your Ecobank mobile app is fast and simple.

  • Launch your Ecobank mobile app and select Xpress Cash.
  • Select where the recipient will collect the cash – an Ecobank ATM or an Xpress agent point.
  • Follow the instructions to generate the 8-digit number, or e-token.
  • Enter the amount you want to send – between XAF 2,000 and 250,000 – and select which account you want to take it from.
  • Review your transaction, enter the reason for it and view the low-cost charge of 1% – if you’re happy, generate the e-token.
  • After a few seconds the e-token will be created and you can view it along with instructions for withdrawing the cash.
  • Select the recipient from your Contacts list on your phone if you’re sending to someone else and share the e-token with them via channels such as SMS, Whatsapp or email. Or, you can keep it for yourself.
  • You will receive a notification by SMS or email about the transaction.
How to generate an Xpress Cash e-token?

Launch Ecobank mobile

  • Select « Xpress Cash »
  • Select « Point Xpress » or « GAB »
  • If the choice is « Point Xpress », scan QR or type code manually
  • Enter amount (XAF 2000 – 250000) multiple of XAF 2000, select account to debit
  • Enter the transaction reason
  • Check your transaction information et enter your pin code
  • If the choice is « ATM », Tap on « Generate e-token »
  • Enter amount (XAF 2000 – 250000) multiple of XAF 2000, select account to debit
  • Enter the transaction reason
  • Check your transaction informations et enter your pin code
  • Keep the code ou choose « SHARE » to send the code via SMS or email

How to withdraw money with an Xpress Cash e-token?

Withdrawing cash with an Ecobank Xpress e-token is easy:

Whoever is withdrawing the cash from an Xpress point will need valid identification, such as an identity card or passport. The Xpress agent will check the e-token, amount and the phone number of the sender (for the withdrawal transaction notification) before handing over the cash. If the cash is being withdrawn at an Ecobank ATM, first select the language. Tap the XPRESS CASH button and enter the 8-digit e-token number. Enter the amount and validate. Collect the cash.
